The startup directories with the most search traffic

The 25 sites we track with the most estimated monthly visits from Google search. 7 give a followed link and 7 are free to submit to. Traffic is the number that matters when the goal is users rather than authority; the two lists overlap less than you would think.

Traffic and authority are different lists

A directory's own traffic tells you how many people might see your listing. Its Domain Rating tells you what its link does for your ranking. Some of the busiest sites here give nofollow links, and some of the strongest links come from directories nobody visits. If you need users this month, work this list; if you need to rank next quarter, work the dofollow list; a new product needs both.

Visits are estimated monthly organic search visits to the directory as a whole, not to any one listing. Your share depends on category pages, homepage features and, on the launch platforms, the day you launch.

How to work this list

The review marketplaces at the top only send traffic once you have reviews, so claim the profile and move on. The launch platforms send a burst on launch day and a trickle after; pick one to prepare properly rather than launching everywhere at once. The listing directories in the middle send a steady few visits a month each, which adds up across twenty of them.

Questions founders ask

Where do the traffic numbers come from?

Estimated monthly organic search visits per domain, from a third-party index, refreshed monthly. Treat them as an order of magnitude and compare directories against each other rather than reading them as exact.

Will a listing on a 3-million-visit site send me a lot of traffic?

No. Almost all of that traffic goes to pages that already rank. A listing typically brings a few visits a week unless it's featured or you launch on the platform.

Why isn't a busy site I know on this list?

Either it isn't a directory a founder can submit to, or we don't track it yet. Tell us at hello@rankplan.io and we'll check it.
